Why Give An Ipad For Free?

Why do companies give away a free iPad 2

With all the advertising consumers are inundated with in today’s society, companies have to start doing more creative marketing. Large corporations like Apple hire market research companies to find new idea’s to create advertising campaign that will go viral and attract lot’s of customers extremely fast. Additionally, there are third party companies that are using popular products the the Ipad or Iphone and using them to create similar viral advertising to get their own names out in front of consumers.

Now you know that the reason companies are giving away all these Ipad 2′s is to market their own brands. What you may not know is how does giving away an Ipad 2 bring in new customers for these companies? We can look at some examples that you have probably seen on sites like Twitter or Facebook. Companies ask you to “tweet to win”, “follow to win”, or “like to win” . These companies ask you to share a message about their company for an opportunity to win the Apple Ipad 2. This type of marketing is so effective because everyone trusts a friend’s suggestion. Giving away a $500 Ipad is extremely cheap marketing to be able to hundreds of thousands of people following their social media accounts.

How do the “Test and Keep a Free iPad 2″ offers work?

These giveaways do three basic things:

1. Generates a buzz around a product.
2. Allow manufacturers to find problems with their product.
3. Promotes other products the company sells.

1. Generate a buzz – the goal here is to make as much people as they can to talk about the company’s brand, products and services. Company’s want to start a viral, mouth to mouth campaign where you tell your friends about their product. What would happen if your friend got a new Ipad 2?  Naturally, he would show it to you and you would want one yourself.  The first question you ask is “where did you get yours”? This takes you back to that company and they can sell the product to you.

2. Find problems with a product – it’s normal that most company’s can’t fully test their products when they only have a handful of employees. Letting a couple hundred people test a product for free allows the company to find out what type of issues may occur in many more settings than their small company could do on their own.

3. Promote other products – Once a company develops brand loyalty, it’s easier for them to sell other products to their customer.  Look at what Apple has done with the Ipod.  They turned that into hundreds of thousands of Iphone and Ipad sales.

Ipad 3 Release Delayed Until 2012

Posted by on Aug 17, 2011 in Ipad News | 0 comments

Apple is rumored to be pushing back the release of the Ipad 3 until 2012 due to failure in their retina display.  This new display almost doubles the resolution from the Ipad 2.   A couple things Apple could be struggling with is the additional back lighting needed for the higher resolution screens along with the need to keep everything thin.  Apple allegedly canceled its Ipad 3 supply schedule which would be a sure sign we won’t see the Ipad 3 anytime soon.

Apple doesn’t need to produce the Ipad 3 in 2011 and they never actually announced that they would.  They were struggling to keep up with production of the Ipad 2 until last month.  Releasing the Ipad 3 before Christmas could significantly reduce Holiday sales on the Ipad 2 .

While we are sitting on the edge of our seats patiently waiting for the newest Apple offerings, users would agree that it is in our best interest for them to release a quality bug free product that we have grown to love.

Apple iOS 5 beta 5 released for the Ipad and Iphone

Posted by on Aug 8, 2011 in Ipad News | 0 comments

This past weekend, Apple released iOS 5 Beta 5 for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. The software update, which will probably be one of the last 3 beta releases, was made available as an OTA (over-the-air) update to developers.

If you are a Developer, and are registered with Apple, you can download iOS 5 beta 5 from the developer portal or update your devices over the air. However, the OTA update can only be performed after you delete all your content and settings from the device. Once the device as been wiped the update will automatically start downloading. Apple has made update size much smaller as OTA updates are delta updates.

To install iOS 5 beta 5 using over the air software update, you must first erase all content and settings on your device by choosing Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. Over the air software update can be initiated on devices running iOS 5 beta 3 and later by choosing Settings > General > Software Update.

Be sure to backup your devices using iTunes 10.5 beta 4 or through iCloud backup prior to installing iOS 5 beta 5. After installing iOS 5 beta 5, you can restore your device using either iTunes 10.5 beta 5 or through your iCloud backup.

Apple has started to make software update much simpler by getting rid of discs and updating via independent software downloads.

iOS 5 beta 5 seems much more responsive and snappier than beta 4 but breaks compatibility with some apps which were working in beta 4. The final version is expected to be available as free download later this fall.

New Security Upadate for the Ipad

Posted by on Jul 26, 2011 in Ipad News | 0 comments

It’s been less than two weeks since Apple issued a security fix for the Ipad and we’re already being asked to update again. The current software download, iOS 4.3.5, is a minor update which fixes another security vulnerability.

Apple doesn’t give a lot of information on the update — it simply explains that if you don’t download iOS 4.3.5 for the Ipad, “an attacker with a privileged network position may capture or modify data in sessions protected by SSL/TLS” — Kaspersky Labs was able to clarify things a bit:

[T]he description implies that an attacker who has already compromised a machine on a given network and has the ability to see and identify SSL sessions might be able to decrypt the traffic and modify it. This kind of man-in-the-middle attack is quite common and would require the attacker to already have a foothold on the network in order to execute it.

In plainer words: Someone could intercept your web-surfing session and steal data from your Ipad — but only if he or she already has access to the network you’re using.

You can get the update which will stop any plots to compromise your security in such a manner by plugging your Ipad into your computer and hitting the “check for updates” button in iTunes.

One thing to note that the 4.3.5 version is intended for the AT&T iPhone 4, the iPhone 3GS, the iPad 2, the iPad as well as third and fourth generation iPod Touch devices. People who own a Verizon iPhone 4 will find an update labeled 4.2.10instead — but it’ll offer the same fix.

“Ipad 3″ is rumored to be “Ipad HD”

Posted by on Jul 12, 2011 in Ipad News | 0 comments

The next generation of Apple’s Ipad appears to be hitting shelves before the end of 2011. The major upgrade, Retina Display. Rumors are that it will have a double resolution screen (2048 x 1538) and will be named “Ipad HD.” Some obvious advantages to this version are crisper letters in ebooks, higher quality images and video, and better quality games. High quality photographers may be prime candidates for the new version of the Ipad for quick editing and viewing. One concern with higher quality graphics is battery life. We will have to wait and see what Apple comes up with to give us the battery longevity we all expect.

Will The Ipad 3 Arrive in 2011

Posted by on Jul 7, 2011 in Ipad News | 0 comments

There are several reports surfacing that Apple may release the Ipad 3 as early as fall of 2011. A more realistic scenario is that Apple will release a new version of the Ipad 2 which is nicknamed the Ipad 2 Plus. There is no current production schedule, but Apple has contacted several suppliers to get quotes for the new components.

One of the major upgrades that is expected is the display which had no change between the original Ipad and the Ipad 2. The new pixel density is predicted to be about double the current 132 pixels per inch.

In June Apple shipped about 5 million Ipad’s and expects the same numbers in July. First quarter sales were down over 2 million, due in part to supply issues related to the earthquake in Japan.

Looking for a good read while you’re on the go?

Being able to produce its users with the ability to read a book, newspaper, or magazine is one of the most talked about uses of the iPad. The design provides the end user with the experience of flipping through the pages just like it were an actual book, without having to worry about messing the pages up.

Watch videos, listen to music, or watch your favorite show anywhere you go.
